Watt Footprint Joins RAK Energy Innovation Competition 2025

Watt Footprint is proud to announce its participation in the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Energy Innovation Competition, a forward-looking initiative supporting the UAE’s clean energy future.

The competition is part of the Ras Al Khaimah Integrated Sustainability (RIS) Strategy 2050, which aligns with the emirate’s Vision 2030 and supports the UAE’s net zero commitments. Building on the earlier Energy Efficiency & Renewables Strategy 2040 (EE&R Strategy), the RIS Strategy takes a broader approach, covering decarbonisation, energy security, environmental protection, and industrial competitiveness.

About the Competition

Organised by Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, the competition serves as a platform for start-ups and SMEs to showcase innovative energy solutions while connecting with government and industry leaders across the UAE and wider MENA region. The goal: attract pioneering companies whose solutions address pressing local energy challenges with global relevance.

The competition’s focus areas are:

  • Digitisation: Bridging the gap in digital energy efficiency through the use of AI, IoT, real-time monitoring, smart control, and data visualisation tools to improve resource use across sectors.

  • Decentralisation: Encouraging deployment of distributed renewable technologies and storage—solar PV, hydrogen, solar thermal, and advanced storage- to reduce reliance on centralised fossil fuel systems.

  • Decarbonisation: Supporting the transition of hard-to-abate industries in RAK (cement, ceramics, glass, and mining) through solutions like resource efficiency, waste heat recovery, and carbon capture.

Watt Footprint’s Participation

At Watt Footprint, we are committed to developing practical and impactful solutions that directly align with these challenges. Our work in smart energy management using our newly launched Energy Platform, reflects the competition’s goals of driving efficiency, resilience, and innovation in energy systems.

By joining the RAK Energy Innovation Competition, we aim to:

  • Demonstrate our solutions to a diverse audience of policymakers, industry leaders, and sustainability experts.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders who share our vision of a cleaner, more efficient energy future.

  • Scale our impact across Ras Al Khaimah, the UAE, and the wider MENA region.

Building the Clean Energy Future Together

Eligibility for the competition ensures only serious and proven innovators are participating. Companies must be active in the energy, water, or mobility sector, already have references for their solutions, be officially incorporated with a public presence, and maintain annual revenues below USD 20 million.

Watt Footprint is honoured to stand among such innovators, working together to address today’s energy challenges while contributing to Ras Al Khaimah’s long-term sustainability goals.

This competition is more than an event, it’s a catalyst for the transformation needed to secure a low-carbon, resilient, and competitive energy future.
